Mint Basil Pesto Recipe and Cooking Demo

Join one of our Home Base Southwest Florida Registered Dietitians, Pierce Larke, for a great Operation Health@Home cooking demo where he guides you through a delicious mint basil pesto. This pesto tastes amazing as the base of a flatbread pizza, as a sauce on a homemade sandwich, or as a garnish! If you grow herbs at home, this is a great way to use them up, instead of tossing them out!

This pesto will definitely make your mouth do a happy dance.

Ingredients:

½ Cup Walnuts
1 – 1 ½ Cup Fresh Basil
½ Cup Fresh Mint
5 Cloves Garlic
½ Cup Parmesan Cheese
½ Cup Olive Oil
Salt and Pepper to Taste

Directions:

Add all ingredients to the blender or food processer.
Blend until desired consistency.
If the consistency is too thick, try using a little bit more oil.

Nutrition Tips:

This pesto isn’t just for pizzas or flatbreads, it would complement pasta dishes and work as a sandwich spread, sauce or garnish.
