Adventure Series for Veterans and Families

Join other Veterans and their Families for FREE activities to strengthen family bonds before, during and after military deployment. Veterans and Families may explore a new sport, meet other Veterans and Military Families, and learn more about the clinical services, education, and research offered by Home Base. Home Base collaborates with businesses and non-profit community organizations throughout New England who host the Adventure Series activities. Past activities include: skiing, skating, and museum visits in the winter and sailing, attending baseball games, and other sports in the summer time. Events are open to both adaptive and able-bodied participants.

Mudflat Pottery
February 15, 2020 (2:00PM-4:00PM)

Join us for pottery lessons with Mudflat Studio. We welcome couples (ages 18+) to come and spend an afternoon together in the pottery studio. This event will go from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at 81 Broadway, Somerville, MA 02145.

Peabody Essex Museum
February 23, 2020 (9:00AM-5:00PM)

We’re partnering with the Peabody Essex Museum for a family-friendly day at the museum! This unique event will include a special drop-in art-making activity and access to the entire museum, including the Maritime Art Gallery and the Fashion and Design Gallery. Explore the Jacob Lawrence: The American Struggle exhibition to see Jacob Lawrence’s work created during the modern civil rights era that interpret pivotal moments in the American Revolution. Also, check out the Asian Export Gallery to see how objects traded in the 16th Century connected societies. The event starts at 9 am and guests are welcome to stay until the museum closes at 5 pm. Other exhibits open at the museum at the time: Where the Questions Live, A Lasting Memento: John Thomson’s Photographs Along the River Min, The Creative Legacy of Nathaniel Hawthorne: Selections from the Phillips Library Collection, Powerful Figures, Yoan Capote: Immanence, Charles Sandison: Figurehead 2.0, Vanessa Platacis: Taking Place.
